The
word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is
derived from 2 Timothy 2:15, which states: "Study to show thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth." This ministry is an opportunity for community youth to learn the ways
of the Lord. During it's season (which is usually from September to March or
early April), the Middletown chapter of this ministry meets each Monday evening
from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Clubbers play games around the AWANA circle, memorize Bible
verses from their handbooks, listen to biblical based teaching, and earn awards
during an Awards ceremony at the end of the AWANA season. The 2008-2009 AWANA
season just finished and was a huge success!
AWANA kids are divided into the following clubs by their age:
Puggles - ages 2 & 3
Cubbies - ages 3 & 4
Sparks - Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade
T & T - 3rd thru 5th Grade
Trek - 6th thru 8th Grade
Journey - High School
Ages are determined by age as of 8/1/09. Grades are determined by what grade
your child will be in for the 2009-2010 school year.
PARENTS & ADULTS: WE NEED YOUR
HELP!
We're in need of leaders in order to continue to make the AWANA program a
successful initiative. A lot of these jobs are just for a short time each Monday
night - you may not even need to stay for the entire 2 hours! Please prayerfully
consider helping with AWANA! You will be blessed!! To express your interest,
please e-mail middletownumc@att.net.
